    The wildfire is burning in a steep, fuel-loaded area that is challenging for crews to safely access the fire’s edge for a direct attack approach. An indirect attack strategy is being used on this fire where control lines are established away from the active fire front, using man-made guards or natural barriers like existing roads, trails, fuel breaks to limit fire spread. Learn about direct and indirect attack strategies. [VIDEO] Operations: Heavy equipment is constructing machine guard to establish control lines and improve access for crews. Crews are reinforcing machine guard and setting up water delivery systems to support suppression efforts. Danger tree specialists are assessing and falling hazardous trees to keep firefighters working safely. Helicopters are cooling the fire's edge, limiting wildfire spread in support of ground crews. This includes two heavy-lift helicopters that can deliver large, sustained water drops. Public Safety: The fire is visible to travelers along Highway 6 however there are no current impacts to the highway. To keep the road safe for responders and other motorists, travelers should remain focused on the road and stay clear of personnel working in the area as to not delay response efforts. The most up-to-date information on road conditions can be found on www.DriveBC.ca The Regional District of Central Kootenay has issued an evacuation alert in the vicinity of the Inonoaklin Creek wildfire. Area Restriction: In the interest of public and responder safety, an area restriction is now in place in the Inonoaklin Creek area.
